It happens to everyone. The first day of college approaches, and you're suddenly full of nerves. You're in a brand-new place about to do brand-new things. Here's a few quick things you can do to help the first day and your first semester not be so stressful:
Make Sure You've Got the Basics
The list of things you'll need for each class will be discussed the first time your class meets, but outside of your books and a notebook, you probably won't need much more. Make sure you bought or ordered your books in plenty of time, it's best to have them before your first day even comes around. You don't want to get stuck waiting for books to be delivered after classes have started. Get a few notebooks, and a few folders to keep all your handouts and papers in order. Buy a planner or download a to-do list app on your phone so you can keep up with everything you need to do, and by when you have to have it done.
Wake Up in Enough Time
Only you know how long it takes for you to get ready. Make sure you're up in plenty of enough time to get ready, gather your books together, and walk to class before it starts. Don't rely on yourself to wake up, make sure you set an alarm the night before! Watch out for your snooze button. A few extra minutes laying in bed can turn a regular morning into a rushed morning, and then you run the risk of forgetting something important (like your homework).
Find Your Classes
This is perhaps the most important tip to help you out on your first day of classes. Take some time one afternoon a day or two before your classes start and walk around your campus. Familiarize yourself with where your buildings are, and if the buildings are open, go inside and find out where your exact classrooms are going to be! That way you won't get lost and possibly be late on your first day.
