Smashbox. Estee Lauder. L’Oreal. MAC. Those are just few of the most expensive makeup brands that every cosmetic fan desires. As crazy as it sounds, it is possible to achieve that perfect look with some simple money-saving ideas!
1. Rewards Programs
Anytime you log on a seller’s website or go to a store, they’ll ask you to enter your name and email. Then they’ll send you discounts and coupons! It’s also best to follow your favorite makeup brands on socia media, because they sometimes offer followers with exclusive coupons.
In Sephora’s Beauty Insider loyalty program, for example, every time you shop you receive a certain amount of points to your account. Depending on how many points you accumulate, you can exchange your points for different products. Benefit, Smashbox, ULTAmate, Aveda, and The Body Shop are some rewards programs that gives frees gifts or discounts on birthday months.
2. Buying Online
Buying online, also known as e-commerce, is not only time effective, but can be cost-effective as well! If you’re a member of certain store, they either give free or discounted shipping. There are also “Online ONLY” deals that are constantly happening, so make sure to check their websites frequently. During holidays, stores typically give coupons for a limited amount of time.
Another benefit of online shopping, is that it gives you a variety of choices to choose from. Many people are victims of compulsive spending (guilty!), and using this method of shopping alleviates the pressures of buying certain items.
3. Try Different Brands
Maybe you’re just not into that really cheap, new foundation you purchased. It made your skin itch or it’s making your skin breakout. That’s okay! There are some great underated, skin and vegan friendly products.
E.l.f. (all cosmestics are vegan, excluding their brushes), sells their merchandise at an extremely affordable price. Neutrogena is a brand that also sells skin care products and sells makeup for sensitive skin. Milani, NYX Cosmetics, and Physician’s Formula are other frugal brands that are sold at stores like CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid.
4. DIY – Create Your Own Makeup
If you’re feeling a little creative, then try searching DIY makeup tutorials on Youtube, Google and other social media accounts. Being able to create your cosmetics, allows you to understand what you’re putting on your face. Many tutorials offer organic and natural products to use that will benefit your skin in the long run. Who knows, maybe you’ll like creating your makeup rather than buying it!
