What is NextGenVest?

NextGenVest is the Money Mentor for every student. We provide on-demand help on how to pay for college over text message. Each year 1.4 million students overpay for college and leave $2.7 Billion in free federal aid unclaimed. Your "Money Mentor", or trained college student, will help you fill out financial aid paperwork, find scholarships, negotiate your tuition and more.

What's the NextGenVest City Captain internship about?

Being a City Captain is an amazing leadership opportunity within NextGenVest. The role requires you to manage the outreach to local schools and develop relationships with school staff. This is a great opportunity for you to develop your management, marketing, and strategizing skills to help scale our outreach. You will also be leading a team of Outreach Leaders to help staff the financial aid workshops that you book with schools.

What are the responsibilities?

You would
* Manage your communication to local schools * Book resourceful financial aid workshops with high schools * Staff workshops appropriately with your Outreach Leaders * Recruit Outreach Leaders through useful marketing techniques * Attend workshops when necessary and mentor students

If you're eligible to become a Junior City Captain, you would be expected to
* Be the City Captain's point person * Create school reports after presentations * Follow-up with communication to Outreach Leaders and teachers * Keep track of student signups * Assist in planning team meet ups

Who should apply?

Any college or graduate student interested in giving back to their community! All majors are welcome but the internship would be great for those pursing a career in education, counseling, marketing, communications, or finance.

Current high school and international students without SSNs or work authorizations are ineligible to apply.

What are the dates and time commitment?

The internship will take place in the summer from July 24th - September 4th, 2017.

We work around your course schedule to make sure your City Captain responsibilities won't conflict. You would be working an average of 5 hours per week plus 2-3 hours if you need to go in person to host workshops. We will give you set "shifts" per week so that your hours are transparent.

Is this a paid internship and what else do you get?

You will be paid $10 per hour + chances to get $100 bonuses per week!

You also get to manage your own team budget with additional partial reimbursement for commuting.

On top of this, you get access to one-on-one training with our senior leaders to strengthen your presentation, recruitment, and professional communication skills.
